NGSSS Mathematics Content for Focus and FCAT Explorer
Focus (http://focus.florida-achieves.com) and FCAT Explorer (http://www.fcatexplorer.com now have new content for mathematics. The Support Services Team spent the 2009-2010 school year revising the mathematics content on both websites to match the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards.
Mathematics mini-assessments in Focus for grades 3 through 8 and Algebra I are now based on the NGSSS. Likewise, the 5th and 8th grade mathematics programs in FCAT Explorer are now aligned to NGSSS. High school mathematics content (Algebra and Geometry) for FCAT Explorer will be revised and realigned during the 2010-2011 school year.
The science and reading content on Focus and FCAT Explorer will be updated based on the implementation of the NGSSS on the statewide FCAT.

Yearly Database Renewal
To prepare for the new school year, the FCAT Explorer Team renews the FCAT Explorer and Focus databases annually. This routine service took place August 11, 2010.

Implementing Next Generation Sunshine State Standards
The question of when the FCAT Explorer and Focus websites will be updated to reflect the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) has been coming up a lot lately. The Support Services Team and FLDOE are working hard to keep your students prepared for FCAT, as the standards are being updated and revised.
